Default May 2009 TRPs

Are we ever going to get those? I just realized that I still haven't gotten any TRPs for that month, and it'd be nice to get them.

Has there been any word on when we're supposed to receive them?

Oh, and I already know about these:But none of those have any real information about when we'll receive them.

I haven't received mine either. I did receive a few e-mails from them at the time, saying they were looking into the problem. Which was interesting because I never sent a support ticket. Thanks for the reminder, I just re-sent the e-mail thread asking what was going on. I wonder if they will respond?

I don't know, but that's a good idea. I still have my email from back then too. I'll try responding and see what happens.

Distribution of the tourney points from last May was to be done in a 3 step process:

1) Remove Kun Shao to prevent the expansion of a database bug which had caused the point distribution problem in the first place.

2) Fix the bug and stress test the system.

3) Return Kun Shao and let him distribute points, at which time the XTH would supposedly be back up.

Lindsay posted this back in August:

Part of this deployment must occur through a build, but some of it will happen automatically on the servers. During this time, if anyone speaks to Kun Shao, it could disrupt the system and garble up the list.

To address the issue, we’ll be doing this in three stages: first, a Live build to remove Kun Shao from outposts to prevent him from interfering; then, a second build to deploy the upgraded code and distribute the points; and finally, a third build to reintroduce Kun Shao so that you may redeem those points. As a thank you for all your patience, we’ll be giving everyone on the distribution list a free bump to the next-highest reward bracket.

At this point you may be saying, "Cool, thanks for the extra points, Linsey, but when will the XTH come back online so I can make my predictions?"

Well, that’s still up in the air. We believe that the bug which caused errors in the distribution of points has been identified and fixed, so we’re now preparing to move into the testing phase. We’ll be simulating the Live environment internally and putting the system through rigorous stress testing to see if the fix took. If it did, then yay happy fun time, the XTH will go back up, and hopefully we'll never have to touch it again.

However… (You knew there would be a "however," didn’t you?) Should it fail the stress tests, it would mean the fix didn’t take because the bug goes deeper than we hope, and that would be Very Bad. If that is the case, we will be faced with a high probability that this bug is not something we can fix. Nor can we redeploy the Xunlai Tournament House with this database bug outstanding. So, let’s all keep our fingers crossed, and I'll keep you updated on how the testing is going once it gets underway.
Given that we've yet to hear anything about the stress testing as Lindsay promised, its fair to say that either

1) They haven't even gotten around to it yet, which is I suppose possible, given how much time they've had to devote to security fixes and content updates (and let's face it... if they can't even get a skill update out the door for 5+ months something more ambitious could easily be out of the question at this point).

OR

2) The whole project was scrapped/shelved without any communication from Anet, which also wouldn't come as much of a surprise at this point.

I personally prefer to think its the former, but given the fact that a lot of players don't seem to care about the missing points or the missing XTH (some even seem quite happy about it) its conceivable the the live team has just put the stress testing farther and farther back on their schedule.

Bottom line is we don't know and they're not saying. Now what the consequences of not communicating about it or not being able to fix it might be, I hope Anet is at least considering the impact such actions will have on future sales. Good hunting.

You could probably make 10x the money in all the time you waste here regurgitating old topics.

Then again, maybe you own/stole hundreds of accounts, which would explain much.

As much as I hate to be on the same side as KJ (it frankly makes me feel dirty all over) the topic of this thread is completely valid. We were promised those reward points and we're not getting them. If that doesn't happen, then I as a player who shelled out a good sum of money to anet/NCSoft deserve at the very least an explanation.

As I see it, the big mess was caused by integrating the NCSoft Master accounts with GW accounts. This happened right before the epic failure with the XTH and it seems to have also caused some huge security problems. If anet can't fix various bugs because these bugs are caused by this linkage, then at least we should be told this.

In case you missed it, the reason this issue keeps being brought up on the forums is because we haven't been given any information since what... September? At the very least we should be being told that they are still working on the problem or are not going to try anymore.

This.
XTH had basically turned into legal gold buying, and inflated the key value for people actually earning them.

If you missed easy Reward Points so much, you should have played more Snowball ATs.

Its worth noting that I don't disagree with you. If the XTH never comes back I wouldn't really care much. The point of the thread, if you actually read KJ's post, is that we were told we would be receiving the tourney points from last May, and we haven't. More than that, we haven't heard anything about it for more than 6 months.

As paying customers, we all have the right to expect and demand accountability from Anet/NCSoft for their mistakes. This thread is about demanding that accountability, not about reopening the stream of free z-keys.

Well, that's just not polite

And to everyone else, I'm only asking why we're not getting something that we were promised. Obviously, the XTH is dead. It's been 8 months. I have no illusions that it will come back.

Remember, some people got their TRPs and some people didn't. That's not ok.

would the test krewe be part of their "internal stress testing" ?

i agree it's not a high priority (security>update/content>xth) but it is/was a nice feature the game had. sure it may have reduced key value by 1 or 2k (lol?) but it spotlighted pvp. you cant argue that's bad for the game...
